For those of you who live in Bali or are taking care of a vehicle here, dealing with Samsat (Vehicle Registration and Identification Office) is unavoidable. Whether it’s paying annual motor or car tax, everything goes through Samsat. The good news is, the process is now much more organized and not as scary as imagined, as long as you know the procedure.
In Bali, Samsat offices are generally open from Monday to Saturday, starting from 08:00 AM to 02:00 PM WITA. Specifically on Fridays and Saturdays, services usually close earlier, around 01:00 PM WITA. It should also be noted that Samsat does not operate on red dates (public holidays) and national holidays, so make sure to check the calendar before coming so you don’t have to go back and forth.
Vehicle Samsat is divided into two types: annual Samsat without plate replacement and Samsat with vehicle plate replacement, which is done once every 5 years. In accordance with Bali Governor’s Circular Letter Number 10 of 2025, vehicle tax payments are made non-cash. Here is how to do vehicle Samsat in Bali so you don’t get confused.
How to Pay Annual Vehicle Tax at Bali Samsat (Without Plate Replacement) – Regular Samsat

For those of you who want to pay annual motor or car tax in Bali, the process is actually simple and not complicated. Here is the procedure:
- Come to the Samsat office
Bring original STNK (Vehicle Registration Certificate) and original KTP (Identity Card) (matching the name on the STNK). - Take a queue number
Hand over the STNK and KTP to the queue officer. You will receive a file and folder for the next process. - Go to the registration counter (Counter 1)
Hand over the file you received. After that, just sit and wait to be called to the cashier. - Pay at the cashier
Your queue number will be called. Make the tax payment, then wait again for the next call. - Take the new STNK at Counter 2
When your number is called, take the extended STNK, new SKPD (Tax Payment Notice), and KTP. - Done
Annual tax is completed, you can go straight home.
Pay Annual Motorbike Tax via Samsat Drive Thru

For those of you who want a more practical option and don’t want to get off your motorbike, annual tax validation can be done via Samsat Drive Thru. The procedure is more or less like this:
- Prepare documents & motorbike
Bring original STNK, original KTP, and the motorbike (it doesn’t have to be the motorbike registered at that Samsat). - Come to a Samsat that has a Drive Thru
Enter the Drive Thru lane and queue if it’s busy. - Hand over documents & pay
When you reach the counter, hand over the STNK and KTP. The officer will state the tax amount, and you can immediately make the payment at the BPD cashier. - Take the latest SKPD
After the payment is complete, the new SKPD is immediately printed and all documents are returned. - Done
Without getting off your motorbike, without fuss.

After the rubbing process is complete, the vehicle can be parked immediately. - Physical check validation
Bring the rubbing results and all documents to the physical check validation counter to be validated by the officer. - Take a queue number
After the documents are declared complete and valid, take a queue number. - Pay and process the new plate & STNK
When called, go to the BRI counter to pay for the new STNK and plate fees. You will receive an administrative receipt which will later be exchanged at the collection counter.
